The Crowton Discovery Trail

The year is 1872, a few months after the consecration of Crowton’s impressive new church. The village is buzzing with excitement about the first church summer fête – and the amazing first prize in the raffle. Sponsored by the new vicar, the Revd Charles Spencer-Stanhope, the ‘Golden Ticket’ offers one lucky family an exciting day out by train to the stylish, maritime city of Liverpool. The prize includes a free First Class return train ride from Acton Bridge Station, afternoon tea at the sumptuous new North Western Hotel on Lime Street, and free passes to the city’s fine new art gallery and museum.
So don your Sherlock Holmes deerstalker and stroll around Crowton to see if you can work out which lucky villager has won the trip of a lifetime!

How it works

Solve the clues as you follow the Trail to eliminate people until just one lucky villager’s name remains. Cross off names of people in the crowd on the back page of the Trail leaflet. At the end of the Trail you should have just one name left – the name of the lucky villager!
